DESCRIPTION:
DF Cal-D Tablet is a nutraceutical bone-health formulation combining Calcium Carbonate, Vitamin D3, Magnesium, Zinc and Vitamin K2. The formulation is designed to support calcium absorption and its correct deposition into bone, help maintain bone mineral density, and support normal muscle contraction, nerve conduction and immune function.

DF CAL-D TABLCLINICAL PHARMACOLOGY :

  • CALCIUM CARBONATE
An inorganic calcium salt providing approximately 40% elemental calcium. Calcium is essential for the mineralisation of bone and teeth, and plays a key role in muscle contraction, nerve transmission, blood clotting and enzyme activity. Adequate calcium intake helps offset bone resorption and supports the maintenance of bone density, particularly in states of increased demand such as growth, pregnancy, lactation and post-menopause.
  • VITAMIN D3 (CHOLECALCIFEROL)
Promotes intestinal absorption of calcium and phosphate and regulates their renal reabsorption, thereby maintaining serum calcium within the normal range required for bone mineralisation. Vitamin D3 also supports normal muscle function and modulates immune response.
  • MAGNESIUM
A cofactor for over 300 enzymatic reactions, magnesium is required for the conversion of vitamin D to its active form, contributes to normal bone structure, and supports normal muscle and neuromuscular function alongside calcium.
  • ZINC
An essential trace mineral involved in osteoblast activity and collagen synthesis within bone matrix. Zinc also contributes to normal immune function, protein synthesis, and the maintenance of normal skin and connective tissue.
  • VITAMIN K2 (MENAQUINONE)
Acts as a cofactor for the carboxylation of osteocalcin, the protein responsible for binding calcium within the bone matrix. This directs circulating calcium toward bone mineralisation and away from soft-tissue and vascular deposition.

    DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION:

Adults: Take 1–2 tablets daily, or as directed by a healthcare professional.

    Administration Notes:

  • Swallow the tablet with water; taking with meals may improve tolerability.
  • Divide the daily dose (e.g., morning and evening) where more than one tablet is taken, to improve calcium absorption efficiency.
  • Avoid concurrent intake with iron or zinc supplements taken at the same time of day, as calcium may reduce their absorption; separate dosing by at least 2 hours where possible.

    Ingredients:

  • Calcium Carbonate
  • Vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol)
  • Zinc Sulphate
  • Magnesium Sulphate
  • Vitamin K2 (Menaquinone)
  • Excipients

    PRECAUTIONS AND WARNINGS:

  • Use with caution in patients with a history of kidney stones, renal impairment, or sarcoidosis.
  • Patients on Vitamin K antagonist therapy (e.g., warfarin) should consult their physician before use, as Vitamin K2 may interact with anticoagulant control.
  • Long-term high-dose use should be monitored by a physician to avoid hypercalcaemia.
  • Keep out of reach of children.
  • This is a nutraceutical product and is not intended for the treatment of any disease.

    SIDE EFFECTS:

Cal-D is generally well tolerated. Reported effects, where they occur, are usually mild and may include:

  • Mild gastrointestinal discomfort, bloating or constipation
  • Nausea (uncommon, usually dose-related)
  • Hypercalcaemia with prolonged excessive intake (rare, at recommended doses)

    DRUG AND FOOD INTERACTIONS:

  • Tetracyclines and fluoroquinolone antibiotics: calcium may reduce their absorption; separate dosing by at least 2 hours.
  • Thiazide diuretics: may increase risk of hypercalcaemia when used with calcium supplements.
  • Warfarin and other Vitamin K antagonists: Vitamin K2 content may affect anticoagulant response.
  • Iron and zinc supplements: calcium may reduce absorption if taken at the same time; separate dosing.
  • STORAGE:Store below 30°C in a cool, dry place. Protect from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.
